Designing Food Ordering for Airports Under Time Pressure

Overview

Timeline

Status

A flight-aware ordering experience that adapts to passenger time, movement, and uncertainty.

This case study explores how passengers make food decisions under varying time pressure (early, on-time, and late), and how an airport app can adapt food discovery, ordering, and pickup to real boarding windows, gate closures, and walking constraints.

The work focuses on:

  • Time-based passenger states

  • Decision confidence under uncertainty

  • Safe ordering windows

  • Low-time and high-stress flows

  • Reducing missed meals without risking missed flights
